Effects of stabilized hydrogen peroxide on antioxidant stress capacity and milk composition in dairy cows

Abstract
The experiment aimed to investigate the effects of stable hydrogen peroxide used for drinking water disinfection on antioxidant stress capacity and milk composition in dairy cows.Eighty early-lactation Holstein cows were selected and randomly divided into a control group and an experimental group,with four replicates per group and ten cows per replicate.The farm adopted total mixed ration(TMR)feeding with free access to feed and water.The experimental group received stable hydrogen peroxide-treated drinking water,while the control group received untreated water.The trial lasted 90 days.The results showed that on day 10 of the experiment,the plasma total antioxidant capacity(T-AOC)in the experimental group was significantly lower than the control group(P<0.05),while malondialdehyde(MDA)content was significantly higher(P<0.05).Throughout the trial,no significant differences were found in milk composition indicators between the groups(P>0.05).The study indicates that using 15 mg/(kg·d)stable hydrogen peroxide for cow drinking water treatment temporarily increases oxidative stress levels and reduces antioxidant capacity in the short term,but shows no significant long-term effects on antioxidant stress capacity or milk composition in dairy cows.关键词
