Abstract

Direct coal liquefaction refined oil typically features high cycloalkanecontent and low aromatic content.To enhance the cetane number(CN)of diesel-range products,ring-opening and non-breaking chain reactions of cycloalkanes are required under the catalytic conditions.How-ever,conventional commercial catalysts such as RCC contain an excessively high proportion of strong acid sites,which promote side reactions such as dealkylation,dehydrogenation,and coking.As a result,the CN cannot be effectively increased.Therefore,this study designed and synthesized cata-lysts with tailored acid properties for hydrotreating reaction were prepared in this article.First,USY molecular sieves with different Si/Al atomic ratios were evaluated via NH3-TPD,and the optimal USY-11 was selected as the cracking component based on acid content and medium-to-strong acid site/strong acid site ratio.Supports containing different mass fraction molecular sieve(40%,25%,and 20%)were then prepared.Finally,C1,C2,and C3 were prepared by loading hydrogenated metals Ni and W using a complexation impregnation method.The influence of the mass fraction of molecular sieve on the catalyst properties was investigated using characterization methods such as XRD,H2-TPR,NH3-TPD,N2 adsorption and desorption tests,and elemental(C/S)analysis.Nota-bly,C2 exhibits the highest medium-to-strong acid site/strong acid site ratio,the strongest metal sulfur bond strength,the smallest decrease in specific surface area and pore volume after reaction,and the least coke formation.Under the process condition of 350℃,13 MPa,airspeed 2.5/h,and H2/oil volume ratio of 750,the self-made catalysts and a commercial RCC catalyst were used for hydrotreat-ment of refined oil.The results show that the C2 catalyst with the most favorable acid properties achieve the highest paraffin content and diesel selectivity.It improves the CN by 1.5 compared to industrial catalyst,demonstrating superior performance.
