Experimental study on SO3 removal by high temperature flue evaporation of desulfurization wastewater in a 330 MW coal-fired power plant

Abstract
The composition of desulfurization wastewater generated by the limestone-gypsum flue gas desulfurization in coal-fired power plants is complex and difficult to treat.The SO3 produced during coal combustion can easily cause blockages in air preheaters and exacerbate haze occurrences.This study proposed a novel process for synergistic removal of SO3 from flue gas by flue evaporation of desulfurization wastewater.The desulfurization wastewater,with added sulfonation composite agents,is atomized and injected into the high-temperature flue gas duct upstream of the air preheater.Upon contact with the high-temperature flue gas,the atomized droplets undergo thorough heat exchange and vaporization,while SO3 is adsorbed and removed via sulfonation reactions.Experi-mental research was conducted in a 330 MW coal-fired power plant,and the results show that inject-ing 1.0 m3/h desulfurization wastewater into the high-temperature flue of the air preheater achieves a sulfur trioxide removal ratio of 55.19%-55.39%.Additionally,the flue gas temperature at the air preheater inlet decreases by 5.6℃to 5.7℃and 1.9℃to 2.3℃at the dust collector inlet.Over a continuous operation period of 300 d,the average wastewater treatment ratio per side of the flue duct is 0.87 m3/h,with no evidence of ash accumulation or blockage within the air preheater.Further-more,the capture of SO3 preventes an increase in air preheater resistance,and the evaporation process of desulfurization wastewater poses no corrosive effects on the air preheater and associated equipment.Overall,this study presents an efficient and practical technology for synergistically removing SO3 throughflue evaporation of desulfurization wastewater.关键词
