摘要

Abstract

By changing the salinity and sediment gradation of the samples from industrial kaolinite and sedi-ment collected from Jiangsu coast,the effects of salinity and sediment gradation on the structural density were experimental studied systematically.The results show that the increase of salinity triggers the kaolinite particles to aggregate into flocs with larger size and higher porosity,the bulk settling velocity to increase,and the struc-tural density to decrease.When the salinity increases to 18‰ or even higher,the structural density tends to be stable.When the median particle size of the sediment sample decreases,the content of viscous fine particles increases,the setting mode gradually changes from single particle settling to floc settling,and the sedimenta-tion rate decreases.In general,the structural density decreases with the decrease of the median particle size,and the composition of the particle less than 8 μm has an important impact on the structural density.Finally,the empirical formula of the structural density is established with the parameters of salinity,the median particle size and the composition of the particle less than 8 μm.
