摘要
Abstract
Objective:To construct a structural equation model to explore the mediating roles of perceived social support and core self-evaluations in the relationship between family functioning and death anxiety in first-degree relative caregivers of colorectal cancer patients. Methods:A convenience sampling approach was used to recruit 400 first-degree relative caregivers of colorectal cancer patients from three grade A ter-tiary hospitals in Chengdu between January and July 2024 as research participants.Data were collected using a general infor-mation questionnaire, the Family Adaptability and Cohesion Evaluation Scale, the Perceived Social Support Scale, and the Core Self-Evaluations Scale.Mediation analysis was subsequently performed with Amos 24.0.Results:A total of 400 ques-tionnaires were administered, with 380 valid responses obtained, resulting in a 95.00%response rate. The mean death anxi-ety score among first-degree relative caregivers of colorectal cancer patients was 6.36±3.08.A total of 170 caregivers(44.74%)scored≥7 on the death anxiety scale, indicating the presence of high death anxiety. The mean scores for family functioning, perceived social support, and core self-evaluations were 124.63±17.11,68.41±11.13,and 37.42±5.96,re-spectively.Univariate analysis revealed that age, gender, family discussions about death, and prior experience in end-of-life care significantly influenced death anxiety levels among these caregivers(P<0.05).The results of Pearson correlation analy-sis revealed that all correlations between any two scale scores were statistically significant(P<0.01).Structural equation modeling demonstrated that perceived social support and core self-evaluations sequentially mediated the relationship between family functioning and death anxiety in first-degree relative caregivers of colorectal cancer patients, with a mediation effect value of-0.100(95%CI:-0.180~-0.052).Conclusion:The death anxiety among first-degree relative caregivers of colorectal cancer patients requires attention, which is influenced by multiple factors.Specifically, perceived social support and core self-evaluation act as sequential mediators between family functioning and death anxiety in this population,provi-ding practical implications for mitigating caregiver death anxiety.关键词
