痿疾源流考辨
Exploration and research of the origin and development of atrophied disease
摘要
Abstract
The term of"flaccidity(痿)"is first found in Huangdi's Internal Classic.The disease name of"flaccidity(痿)"originates from"wei(萎)",which is a manifestation of the Chinese medical thinking of analogy and comparison.Ex-tending from the character"wei(萎)",it is found that"wei((歹委))"is both the ancient and modern Chinese characters of"wei(萎)",and it can also be written as"wei(痿)",carrying the meaning of illness.The character"wei(委)",which is interchangeable with"wei(萎)",is later extended to mean weakness.Both"wei(萎)"and"wei(委)"are related to the weakness of the extremities and sluggishness of tendons and muscles associated with"wei(痿)",hence the"grass-head radical(艹)"is changed into"disease-related radical(疒)",which is the origin of"wei(痿)"as a disease name.In an-cient times,there are three kinds of flaccidity(痿),including flaccidity,various flaccidities and atrophied disease.When specific diseases and lesion sites are not mentioned,all are general terms."Fengwei(Wind-induced Flaccidity)"and"Weiyi(Flaccidity and Changeability)"are the names of diseases under the category of"Weiji(atrophied disease)",while names such as"Yinwei(Erectile Dysfunction)"and"Feiwei(Lung Flaccidity)"indicate the site of onset.It can be known from the discussions of different types of flaccidity in various chapters of Huangdi's Internal Classic that the symp-toms of flaccidity in any part or organ belong to atrophied disease,and its scope is larger than that of flaccidity in later gen-erations which is limited to limb lesions.From this,it can be seen that the term"Weiji(atrophied disease)"is more repre-sentative.Due to the fact that the current TCM textbooks have changed the traditional names of TCM diseases and confused the difference between the names of TCM diseases and syndromes,it is necessary to refer to the classics such as the Huangdi's Internal Classic as the source,and examine the meaning of the words,the changes of the name of the atrophied disease,the classification and characteristics of the atrophied disease in Huangdi's Internal Classic,the identification,the etiology and pathogenesis,and the treatment of the disease and other aspects in order to clarify the origin and development of atrophied disease and correctly understand the disease,and re-attach importance to the standardization and normaliza-tion of the names of the diseases and syndromes in TCM.关键词
