Abstract

The study investigates the hardness,polish value,alkalinity,contact angle,and adhesion work between aggregates and asphalt of limestone,steel slag,basalt,and granite aggregates.Steel slag and limestone aggregates,which perform better,are selected.Steel slag is incorporated into SMA-5 asphalt mixture by volume replacement of limestone aggregate,and the low-and high-temperature performance,water stability,interlayer shear strength,and interlayer tensile strength of the mixture with steel slag are analyzed.The change in anti-slip performance of the mixture under long-term polishing is also studied.The results show that steel slag aggregate has the highest Vickers hardness and initial polish value,and the polish value remains relatively high after polishing.The higher the alkalinity of the aggregate,the greater its surface free energy.The order of adhesion work between aggregate and asphalt is:Steel slag>limestone>basalt>granite.The pull-out strength between aggregate and asphalt is basically consistent with the trend of adhesion work but with some differences.After the incorporation of steel slag,the mixture's dynamic stability and freeze-thaw splitting strength ratio increase,while the maximum flexural tensile strain decreases.The interlayer shear strength and interlayer tensile strength gradually decrease with the increase of steel slag content.When the steel slag content is 75%,the dynamic friction coefficient of the mixture reaches its peak.When the steel slag content is 50%,the attenuation rate of the mixture's dynamic friction coefficient is the smallest.
