Abstract

The radome is mainly used to protect the internal antennas from being influenced by the harsh natural environment.At the same time,it requires excellent fluctuation performance,minimizing the impact of the antenna electrical parameters,and meeting other use needs such as communication.In order to ensure high wave transmission performance,radomes are usually made of composite materials with low dielectric,low loss and sandwich structure.In order to study and analyze the factors affecting the wave transmittance of the radome,the electromagnetic software HFSS is applied to simulate the polymethacrylimide(PMI)foam sandwich structure radome.When the electromagnetic wave is vertically incident and horizontally polarized,the influence of different wavelength(work frequency)and core layer thickness on the wave transmittance of the radome is studied respectively.The simulation results show that when the electromagnetic wave is vertically incident and parallel polarized,the wavelength(work frequency)and the thickness of the core layer have a certain effect on the wave transmittance.The wave transmittance decreases with the increase of frequency,while it first increases and then decreases with the increase of the core layer thickness.When the thickness of the core layer reaches 1/4 wavelength,the transmittance rate reaches the maximum.The test results show that when the electromagnetic wave is vertically incident and parallel polarized,the average difference between the simulated value and the measured value in the selected frequency band is 0.511%when the core thickness of the radome is 9 mm.At 3.0 GHz and 3.5 GHz,the average difference between the simulated value and the measured value of different core thickness is 0.128%and 0.125%,respectively.The difference between the two is small,which proves the correctness of the simulation.
