Abstract

The study aimed to investigate the effects of different levels of Clostridium autoethanogenum protein as a substitute for fish meal on the growth performance and serum biochemical indexes of male Ussuri raccoon dogs during the breeding period.A single-factor experimental design was employed,involving 60 healthy male Ussuri raccoon dogs(130 days old)with similar body weights.The Ussuri raccoon dogs were randomly divided into four groups,with 15 replicates per group and one Ussuri raccoon dogs per replicate.The control group(group Ⅰ)was fed a basal diet without Clostridium autoethanogenum protein,while the experimental groups were fed diets supplemented with 0.5%(group Ⅱ:replacing 10%fish meal),1.0%(group Ⅲ:replacing 20%fish meal),and 1.5%(group Ⅳ:replacing 30%fish meal)Clostridium autoethanogenum protein.The pre-experimental period lasted seven days,followed by a 40-day formal experimental period.The results showed that there were no significant differences in the average body weight,serum total protein(TP),albumin(ALB),cholesterol(TC),high-density lipoprotein cholesterol(HDL-C),aspartate aminotransferase(AST)activity and total antioxidant capacity(T-AOC)among the groups(P>0.05).Compared with group Ⅰ,the average daily gain of Ussuri raccoon dogs in group Ⅱ was significantly increased(P<0.05).Compared with group Ⅰ,the serum alanine aminotransferase(ALT)activity in group Ⅳ was significantly increased(P<0.05),and the serum urea nitrogen(BUN)content in group Ⅱ was significantly decreased(P<0.05).The serum activity of alkaline phosphatase(ALP)was significantly increased in group Ⅲ(P<0.05),and the concentrations of triglyceride(TG)and low-density lipoprotein cholesterol(LDL-C)were significantly decreased(P<0.05).Compared with group Ⅰ,the serum concentrations of immunoglobulin G(IgG),immunoglobulin A(IgA),immunoglobulin M(IgM),interleukin-6(IL-6),and tumor necrosis factor-α(TNF-α)in the other groups were significantly increased(P<0.05).Compared with group Ⅰ,the serum malondialdehyde(MDA)content in group Ⅲ and group Ⅳ was significantly reduced(P<0.05).The activity of superoxide dismutase(SOD)in serum was significantly increased in the Ⅳ group(P<0.05).The results show that the use of Clostridium autoethanogenum protein to replace 30%of the fish meal in the diet(with an addition rate of 1.5%)has no significant effect on the growth performance of Ussuri raccoon dogs,and the economic benefit of replacing 10%fish meal(with an addition of 0.5%)was the best,and the growth performance and immune performance of Ussuri raccoon dogs can be improved.
