Abstract

[Objective]This study aims to explore the effects of organic matter addition and leaching on the stability and pore structure of aggregates in saline-alkaline soils,providing a scientific basis for the improvement and comprehensive management of saline-alkaline soils.[Methods]Soil column incubation experiments were conducted with four treatments:straw addition,leaching,leaching combined with straw addition,and a control group.Using micro-CT scanning,image processing technology,and laboratory physicochemical analysis,the effects of straw addition and leaching on the salinity and aggregate structure of saline-alkaline soils were studied.[Results](1)Straw addition alone had no significant effect on soil conductivity or soluble salt content.The treatments of leaching and leaching combined with straw addition significantly reduced the total soluble salt content by 31.1%and 33.5%,respectively.Soil conductivity and soluble salt content in the 10-20 cm soil layer were higher than in the 0-10 cm soil layer.(2)Soil aggregates were mainly microaggregates smaller than 0.25 mm.The treatments of straw addition alone and leaching did not have significant effects on the mean weight diameter,geometric mean diameter,soil particle fractal dimension,or the pore structure characteristics of aggregates(including porosity,pore number,pore diameter,pore fractal dimension,pore sphericity and connectivity),with the exception of reducing the mean weight diameter of aggregates in the 10-20 cm soil layer.(3)No significant correlation was found between soil salinity,aggregate stability,and aggregate pore structure characteristics.[Conclusion]The effects of straw addition and leaching on the aggregate structure of saline-alkaline soils are minimal.In the context of water-saving irrigation,attention should be given to the adaptability of straw addition amount and total irrigation volume in different regions,as well as salt accumulation in the subsoil layers.Additionally,a comprehensive evaluation of the long-term benefits of various improvement measures on soil salinity,nutrients,and aggregate structure in saline-alkaline soils should be conducted.
