Impact of farmland transfer on farmers' livelihood vulnerability

Abstract
[Objective]This study explores the impact of farmland transfer on the livelihood vulnerability of farmers across different regions and household types,as well as its variations,providing a scientific basis for optimizing farmland transfer policies.[Methods]Based on the 2020 CFPS(China Family Panel Studies)Household Tracking Survey Database,the relationship between farmland transfer and farmer's livelihood vulnerability was analyzed using logit regression and quantile regression methods.[Results](1)Farmland transfer-out reduced farmers' livelihood vulnerability.(2)Farmland transfer-in increased farmers' livelihood vulnerability,but this relationship varied depending on regional differences and farmers' vulnerability levels.(3)An increase in the scale of farmland transfer-out and transfer-in raised farmers' livelihood vulnerability.Among different types of farmers,the most vulnerable farmers were most affected by farmland transfer-out and its increasing scale,general farmers were most affected by farmland transfer-in,while elite farmers were most impacted by the increasing scale of transfer-in.The effect of farmland transfer-out on livelihood vulnerability was stronger in the western region compared to the central and eastern regions.Conversely,farmland transfer-in increased livelihood vulnerability in the central and eastern regions but reduced it for certain types of farmers in the western region,significantly for the'more vulnerable farmers'type.[Conclusion]The impact of farmland transfer on livelihood vulnerability varies significantly across regions and farmer types.The government should accurately identify and provide targeted support to farmers with different levels of livelihood vulnerability,formulate region-specific transfer policies,and strengthen the construction of farmers' livelihood capital.关键词
