Scale,Assumptions,Methods and Income Distribution Fitting:A Comparison Based on Micro Survey and Grouped Summary Data
摘要
Abstract
This paper discusses the current inequality state of Chinese residents'income measured by different data, and proposes a"restoration and correction"method for income distribution based on grouped data to conduct a comprehensive analysis of the income distribution pattern of residents.By comparing micro-survey data with grouped aggregated data, the paper reveals the differences in income gap measurement between the two and analyzes the impact of data scale, distribution assumptions and fitting methods on inequality estimation. The research results are shown as below:In recent years, the income distribution pattern among the Chinese residents has been shifting from an"inverted T-shape"to a"waterdrop-shape"or"olive-shape"structure,with a significant increase in the size of the middle-income group.Compared to the traditional methods, the approach combining grouped aggregated data and the generalized Beta distribution of the second kind(GB2)is more applicable and more valuable for measuring income inequality, contributing to the study of social welfare levels, poverty alleviation and the formulation of income redistribution policies from the perspective of income distribution. In the process of achieving common prosperity,we should give attention to high-income groups at the tail of the income distribution, balancing efficiency while promoting fairness.关键词
