Abstract
Objective To explore the application of simulation-based medical education(SBME)in obstetrics internship for general practice medical students and its impact on reflective practice ability.Methods From September 2021 to May 2024,59 general practice medical students were selected and divided into a control group(n=30)and an experimental group(n=29)by drawing lots from Hubei University of Medicine interning in the Gynecology and Obstetrics Department of the Second Affiliated Hospital,School of Medicine,the Chinese University of Hong Kong.The control group received traditional internship methods,while the experimental group was supplemented with SBME.The teaching effects were evaluated through gynecology and obstetrics theoretical assessments and clinical operation skill assessments.The performance on three situational simulation teaching assessments was compared in the experimental group.Results There was no statistically significant difference between the two groups in terms of gynecology and obstetrics theoretical assessment score.In the clinical operation skill assessment,the experimental group scored higher than the control group in aspects such as operation indications/understanding of relevant anatomy and operation techniques,informed consent,preoperative preparation,aseptic technique,seeking help as needed,postoperative handling,communication skills,humanistic care/professional ethics,and overall performance,with statistically significant differences(P<0.05).The students in the experimental group showed a significant increase in scores on various dimensions of mini-clinical evaluation exercise after participating in three SBME sessions(P<0.05),but there was no significant difference in clinical judgment score between the third and second SBME sessions(P>0.05).Conclusion SBME can significantly improve the clinical operation skills and reflective practice abilities of general practice medical students in obstetrics internships,positively affecting the quality of general practice medical education and the professional growth of students.关键词
