Abstract

In order to solve the problem of differential settlement of sluices in deep soft soil areas.Firstly,the foundation design of sluices in Zhuhai and the differential settlement of a certain sluice were analyzed.Secondly,a two-dimensional numerical model was established based on the principle of stiffness equivalence.After comparing and verifying the model with the actual measured results,the stress and deformation characteristics of the composite foundation were explored,along with an analysis of the influences factors such as the cushion layer,pipe pile arrangement,and sidewall drag reduction.Finally,the causes of differential settlement in a certain sluice were summarized and ana-lyzed,and design suggestions were proposed from the perspectives of sluice structure,composite foun-dation,and foundation treatment of the shore connection transition area,providing a reference for en-gineering applications.The results show that the composite foundation with multi-pile for sluices in Zhuhai typically employs consistent pile type combinations,but there are significant differences in the cushion layer design.Reducing drag along the chamber sidewalls has a relatively good effect on con-trolling differential settlement,and the priority use is recommended.The main causes of differential settlement in a certain sluice include suboptimal cushion layer design,insufficient consideration of the shore connection transition area during design,and adverse impacts from surrounding construction ac-tivities.
