Reproductive and Offspring Growth and Development Changes of Different Instars of Female Dastarcus helophoroides

Abstract
Dastarcus helophoroides is an important natural enemy of Monochamus alternatus,Anoplophora glabripennis and Batocera horsfieldi.The release of D.helophoroides in the forest is an important means of prevention and control for the damage caused by longhorn borers.This study explores the reproductive ability of different month old adults of D.helophoroides and the impact of offspring growth and develop-ment on breeding efficiency.In this paper,we took the indoor breeding of female adults of D.helophoroides as the target,counted the amount of eggs laid by adults of different ages,dissected and observed the chan-ges in the morphology and development of the ovaries of different ages,detected the expression of genes re-lated to the development of the ovaries,and compared the parameters of the offspring's growth and devel-opment.The results showed that the monthly fecundity of single female of D.helophoroides was signifi-cantly higher in the 2-month-old adult than in the 4-month-old,8-month-old and 12-month-old,with the in-crease of months,the ovaries of the female of D.helophoroides gradually shrunk,and the relative expres-sion levels of vitellogenin gene and vitellogenin receptor gene showed a downward trend as a whole.The parasitism rate of the 2-month-old and 4-month-old offspring of D.helophoroides is significantly higher than that of the 8-month-old and 12-month-old,but the duration of the larval stage,cocoon stage,and pre oviposition stage is significantly shorter than that of the 8-month-old and 12-month-old.As the age of D.helophoroides increases,it may experience a decrease in egg production,ovarian atrophy,and delayed growth and development of offspring.Considering the body quality and feeding cost,females aged 2-4 months show better reproductive efficiency.关键词
