Design of MAC Layer Protocols for Voice Multi-hop Communication in Mobile Ad Hoc Networks

Abstract
The design of media access control(MAC)protocols is a critical element in enabling voice multi-hop communication in Ad Hoc networks.This paper analyzes the factors affecting voice quality in wireless networks and the QoS scheme for guaranteeing voice transmission quality.Considering the distributed nature,dynamic topology,and multi-hop characteristics of mobile Ad Hoc networks,along with the real-time requirements of voice communication,traditional multi-hop network MAC protocols struggle to meet the demands of voice multi-hop communication.To address these challenges,a time division multiple access protocol with a scheduling mechanism is proposed and appropriately modified to develop a Priority Self-Organized Time Division Multiple Access(P-STDMA)protocol.This paper presents a detailed design of the P-STDMA protocol,analyzes its technical features and scope of application.Through software simulation,the access delay performance of the P-STDMA protocol is examined,demonstrating high slot utilization and significant reductions in access delay and voice transmission latency,thus minimizing delay variation.关键词
