Government Subsidies,Green Supply Chains and Corporate ESG Performance:The Moderating Role of Media Surveillance and Executive Overconfidence
摘要
Abstract
Based on the data of listed companies in China from 2019 to 2022,this paper studies the relationship between government subsidies and corporate ESG performance,and further examines the mediating effect of green supply chain and the moderating effect of media supervision and executive overconfidence.The study finds that government subsidies can promote corporate ESG performance,and the green supply chain plays an important role in the transmission mechanism in this process,and media supervision positively affects the promotion of government subsidies on the green supply chain,and the overconfidence of executives inhibits the promotion of green supply chain on corporate ESG performance.The results of robustness and endogeneity test show that the promotion effect of government subsidies on corporate ESG performance is still valid after considering methods such as lag treatment,substitution of explanatory variables,propensity matching scoring method,and instrumental variables.Through the heterogeneity study,it is found that government subsidies have a more significant effect on ESG performance among enterprises with large economic scale,non-state-owned enterprises and enterprises with a high degree of industry competition.The conclusions of this study further enrich the research content on the economic consequences of government subsidies,expand the research on the influencing factors of ESG,and provide effective guidance for the government to further guide enterprises to improve their ESG performance and promote their high-quality development.关键词
