Abstract

Accelerating the green and low-carbon transformation of agriculture is not only an objective requirement for the coordinated advancement of carbon reduction,pollution control,green expansion,and economic growth but also a key measure for promoting Chi-na's agricultural modernization and building a strong agricultural nation.With the rapid development of new-generation smart technolo-gies,intelligentization has permeated all aspects of rural economic and social development,providing robust support for the green and low-carbon development of agriculture.Based on data from the China Rural Revitalization Survey(CRRS),this study measured house-hold-level intelligentization from the perspective of smart development and constructed a micro-analysis framework for farmers'green and low-carbon production transformation using the Super-SBM model.It empirically analyzed the impact of intelligentization on farm-ers'green and low-carbon production transformation.The research results indicated that:① Intelligentization was conducive to the im-provement of farmer'green total factor productivity,thereby promoting their green and low-carbon production transformation.② Vari-ous identification strategies,including propensity score matching and instrumental variable methods,were employed to eliminate inter-ference from self-selection and causal relationships.Even with variations in the measurement of core variables,the conclusion that intel-ligentization promoted farmers'green and low-carbon production transformation remained robust.③ Intelligentization exerted effects such as human capital accumulation,the expansion of operational scale,and the provision of financial service support,all of which pro-moted farmers'green and low-carbon production transformation.④ Further research revealed that the impact of intelligentization was heterogeneous,with a more pronounced impact on green and low-carbon production among farmers with higher education levels,greater demand for technology,stronger willingness to share information,and those residing in areas with advanced digital village construction.Based on the fundamental conclusions of this study,the following policy recommendations are put forward:① Strengthen mechanisms to improve farmers'intelligentization skills and literacy,promote the application of smart technologies in agricultural production and management activities,and guide farmers to actively integrate into the new era of intelligentization.② Release the enabling effect of in-telligentization on farmers'resource endowments,promote the rational and efficient allocation of factors,and overcome the constraints of farmers'initial capital endowments.③ Develop an inclusive pathway for intelligentization,lower the threshold in the process of intel-ligent application,and help advanced smart technologies better benefit a wider range of rural areas and farmers.
