Abstract

During the operation of refrigeration,air conditioning,and other low-temperature equipment,frost formation and accumulation frequently occur on the evaporator surface,causing the system's performance to significantly lag behind its design capacity under dry conditions.In contrast to defrosting methods,frost suppression technologies have garnered escalating attention due to their negligible or minimal energy consumption.In this paper,we first present a concise overview of the mechanisms governing the formation and propagation of frost on cold surfaces.Subsequently,we systematically review the current research endeavors on frost suppression technologies aimed at enhancing the performance of refrigeration and air conditioning systems.Based on the factors that induce frosting on cold surfaces,these technologies are categorized into three primary groups:altering the properties of humid air,modifying the characteristics of cold surfaces,and regulating the interaction between air/frost layers and cold surfaces.We then analyze the unique features and limitations of each approach and offer insights into potential future research directions,ultimately aiming to provide a valuable reference for the effective control and prevention of frost formation.
