Abstract

To explore the water-induced heave-settlement deformation patterns of high-density compacted argillaceous siltstone backfill soil,the argillaceous siltstone backfill soil from Changsha Huanghua airport was studied.Indoor heave-settlement tests were conducted to analyze the heave-settlement behavior of the argillaceous siltstone backfill soil.A calculation model was developed to estimate the settlement induced by particle fragmentation under loading conditions.A separate expansion calculation model was derived by incorporating water absorption behavior.A predictive model for water-induced heave-settlement of argillaceous siltstone backfill soil was established and validated based on the heave-settlement test results.The research show that during the heave-settlement tests,the argillaceous siltstone backfill soil becomes saturated with water.With the increase of the load,the deformation of the specimen gradually changes from heave to settlement.When the load reaches 200 kPa,the load settlement increases and the rate of settlement deformation tends to stabilize.After water saturation,the swelling ratio of the specimen decreases with the increase of the applied load.Comparison between the deformation prediction values of the heave-settlement prediction model and the actual values reveals that the relative error is within 11.63%,demonstrating the applicability of the heave-settlement calculation model.
