Abstract

In order to investigate the effects of dielectric barrier discharge plasma technology and catalyst on methanol hydrogen production,a double-layer dielectric barrier discharge reactor with nanosecond pulsed discharge excitation was designed to investigate the effects of different power supply parameters on the kinetics of methanol hydrogen decomposition,and experimental data were obtained on the concentration of species in methanol hydrogen decomposition under the action of plasma,and it was found that both increasing voltage and frequency had a positive effect on the efficiency of methanol hydrogen decomposition,and the effect of voltage was more obvious.On this basis,the hydrogen yield and product selectivity of hydrogen production from methanol decomposition with plasma,catalytic and plasma co-catalytic effects were compared.The results show that the hydrogen selectivity is lower with the plasma alone,accompanied by the generation of by-products,such as methane and ethane,etc.;the catalyst alone results in fewer product species but the hydrogen production efficiency is too low;the hydrogen production rate in the synergistic plasma catalytic mode is higher than those of the two catalysts alone.
