Summary of nuclear factor-κB family members:a review
摘要
Abstract
The vast majority of biological activities in cells are executed and completed by proteins.NF-κB is not only a key transcription factor,but also plays a significant role in various biological processes,including immune response,cell proliferation,and apoptosis.Specifically,the NF-κB signaling pathway,as a classical inflammatory response pathway,plays a crucial role in innate immunity.It could be activated by bacterial infections,viral invasions,and other stimuli,while also participating in various signal transduction mechanisms,biological processes,and disease prevention and treatment.This makes NF-κB essential for maintaining immune homeostasis.This article systematically reviewed the roles of NF-κB family proteins(NF-κB1,NF-κB2,RelA,c-Rel,and RelB)and the activation pathways of the NF-κB signaling pathway through both the canonical and non-canonical pathways.The canonical pathway rapidly and transiently regulates transcriptional activity,primarily responsible for controlling the expression of various proinflammatory genes and playing a key role in inflammatory responses.The non-canonical pathway,activated by a few members of the tumor necrosis factor receptor superfamily,is more durable and closely related to its biological functions in immune cell development,lymphoid organ formation,and immune homeostasis.In summary,this article provides a theoretical foundation for studying the molecular mechanisms of the interaction between NF-κB family proteins and host immune proteins,lays a groundwork for exploring the multiple functions of the NF-κB signaling pathway and its interactions with other signaling pathways,and offers a more comprehensive biological perspective that aids in understanding its importance in health and disease.This is significant for the development of new therapeutic strategies.关键词
