Abstract

The extreme conditions in space and other hazard environments have proposed higher demands on the static and dynamic performances of engineering structures.In addition to ensuring the structural load-bearing capacity,achieving lightweight design and multi-band vibration reduction capability is also very important.To meet these requirements,this study presented the design of a tension-torsion coupled metastructure plates.By utilizing the flexural wave bandgaps generat-ed by the 2-DOF coupling resonances,the proposed metastructure plate achieves dual-band vibration reduction at low fre-quencies.Firstly,a unit-cell equivalent model with tension-torsion dual degrees of freedom was introduced.Based on this model,the Plane Wave Expansion(PWE)method was employed to calculate the band gap characteristics of the metastruc-ture plate.Additionally,the accuracy of the band gap calculation method was verified through FEA.This study reveals that,compared to the translational tension-compression single-DOF resonators,the tension-torsion coupled 2-DOF resonators open up a new flexural wave band gap in the plate construction.Furthermore,the influence of the normalized equivalent stiff-ness coefficient on the positions and widths of the two band gaps was analyzed.Finally,the vibration transmission coeffi-cient of a 10×5 array of the metastructure plate was calculated using FEA.The obtained vibration attenuation region agrees precisely with the theoretically calculated band gap positions.This study provides valuable insights for the design of multi-band vibration reduction in lightweight metastructure plates.
