Abstract

The environmental protection standards of offshore oil and gas fields are increasingly strict,and the"zero discharge"of drilling waste mud at sea has been the trend of The Times.In this paper,the oxidation conditioning system based on ferrate(K2 FeO4)was established,and the effect and conditioning mechanism of this technology on the reduction of abandoned drilling mud were analyzed.The results showed that the condi-tioning of ferrate and cationic surfactant(FQN)can enhance the dehydration rate and degree of abandoned drilling mud.When the initial pH of the system was 10,K2 FeO4 was 14 g/L and FQN was 200 mg/L,the de-watering pressure filtration rate and water content of the drilling waste mud were 25.76×10-5 m3/(m2·s)and 42.2%,respectively,and the proportion of strong and weak bound water was reduced to 7.14%and 4.86%,respectively.Ferrates increased the filtration rates and reduced the bound water content by producing active sub-stances(·OH,Fe(Ⅴ)and Fe(Ⅳ))that degraded additives in drilling fluids and destroyed the clay surface hydration layer.In addition,FQN changed the distribution of bound water by dissolving the polymer on the clay surface.At the same time,by neutralizing the system potential with its own positive charge,FQN aggregated clay particles and formed a water transport channel to improve the filtration effect.This conditioning technology not only realized the reuse of drilling wastewater on offshore platforms,but also greatly reduced the cost of land transportation and disposal of drilling waste mud.
