Preparation of Br-Modified Carbon Quantum Dots and Photocatalytic Degradation of Rhodamine B by Activated PMS

Abstract
This study demonstrates a synthesis method for the carbon quantum dots with the surface modified by Br(Br-CQDs).Br-CQDs were characterized by FTIR,XPS,TEM,HRTEM,etc,which confirmed the successful introduction of Br into CQDs.The Introduction of Br can reduce the band gap of CQDs,which can increase the light adsorption and improve the transfer of light electrons.Under visible light irradiation,Br-CQDs can efficiently catalyze the oxidation of organic compounds such as rhodamine B by activated peroxymonosulfate(PMS)with three times the catalytic activity of non-modified CQDs.We studied the dependence of the oxidation of organic compounds on the usage amount of Br-CQDs,the type and the concentration of organic contaminates,as well as pH value.We also investigated the mechanism for Br-CQDs catalyzing the activation of PMS to degrade organic compounds by free radical quenching experiments.It was found that the main active species was superoxide radicals.关键词
