Abstract

Considering the uncertain dwelling time caused by the loose continuity between the arrival and departure of the train,this paper investigated the method of calculating the capacity of high-speed railway stations.To describe the continuity of train movement within the station and the coordination between the arrival and departure operations,this paper proposed a mathematical model for calculating the carrying capacity of a high-speed railway station based on the space-time network modeling approach.The optimization objective was to maximize the number of incoming and outgoing trains.The constraints were the train dwelling time,the flow balance,the uniqueness and incompatibility of equipment occupancy,and the arrival times of existing trains in the scheduled timetable.The model used the distributed robust chance constraints to describe the uncertain dwell time of trains.These stochastic constraints were transformed into deterministic constraints based on the mean and variance of the additional dwell time.The commercial solver GUROBI was used to solve the transformed linear integer programming model.Tianshui South Station was used as a case study to validate the effectiveness of the proposed model.Lower bounds values of opportunity constraints,different ratios of the numbers of different types of trains and the impact of different scenarios on station throughput were analyzed.The results show that the station carrying capacity decreases as the lower bound of the chance constraint probability increases.In particular,when the lower bound is increased from 0.96 to 0.99,the reduction of the station carrying capacity is approximately 11.83%.Turning trains occupy the track for a longer time,and their departures segment the station throat,affecting the processing of other arriving and departing trains,which has the most significant impact on the station carrying capacity.As the proportion of trains stopping in both directions increases,the total dwell time of trains in the station increases,resulting in a decreasing trend in the station carrying capacity.In practical railway applications,the results of the research can provide insight and guidance for determining station capacity.
