Abstract

Resilience can quantitatively characterize the cumulative degradation of high-speed railway(HSR)network performance under prolonged perturbations.To address the fundamental limitations in existing HSR resilience studies,including their failure to account for time-varying network attributes and integrate emergency recovery mechanisms,this paper examined the heterogeneous train flow patterns across operational periods,dissected the temporal dynamics of train services,and developed a temporal HSR transportation network model to incorporate dynamic operational characteristics.This framework systematically investigated the impacts of disruptions on both localized and cross-line operations during networked dispatch,with the objective of minimizing reschedule deviations from the original plan and developing adaptive recovery strategies through real-time operational adjustments.A passenger-centric network performance index incorporating travel time costs was proposed,and the resilience assessment method of HSR transportation network based on train operation adjustment was proposed.A rolling horizon optimization algorithm was applied to implement phased operational adjustments,and a network performance solving algorithm was designed.Based on the empirical operation data of China's HSR,empirical results demonstrate that network resilience is not strictly negatively correlated with the number of disrupted trains,and the HSR transportation network resilience shows obvious spatial distribution differences.The disturbances that have a greater impact on the network performance are mostly distributed at the intersections of China's four major HSR corridors of Beijing-Guangzhou,Beijing-Shanghai,Xuzhou-Lanzhou and Shanghai-Kunming,especially in the adjacent sections with Zhengzhou and Changsha as hubs.Temporal resilience variability arises due to differential train flow loads across time windows,even for identical disturbance locations.In addition,different emergency recovery strategies have different effects on the recovery of network performance,and the ranking of key sections based on resilience will also change.Compared to conventional strategies such as train reversal prior to disruption zones and service cancellation,the train operation adjustment can minimize the loss of network performance and improve the network resilience.The proposed methodology can integrate train operational adjustments with resilience quantification,and can provide a method tool for railway operation departments to effectively quantify the network performance under sudden disturbances.
