Abstract

Hydrothermal carbon treatment was used to solve the waste of traditional Chinese medicine residue(TCMR).Four typical TCMR raw materials,Astragalus,Lanqin,Weisu and Suhuang,were selected in hydro-thermal carbonization experiments.The solid-liquid ratio of TCMRs to solvent water was 1∶5.At 260℃,the experiments were conducted for 180 min by a high pressure sealed stainless steel hydrothermal reactor.The hy-drochars of TCMRs and liquid phase products were analyzed,and the hydrothermal carbonization characteris-tics of TCMRs were discussed.The comparison results of carbonization effects of different kinds of TCMRs show that the hydrothermal carbonization characteristics of Astragalus residue were the best.The hydrothermal carbonization method has the advantages of no pre-drying treatment,mild reaction conditions and simple equip-ment operation,which is especially suitable for the treatment of TCMRs with high water content.Under the ideal conditions,the hydrothermal carbon of Astragalus residue has a carbon content of 68.53%and a higher calorific value of 28.28 MJ/kg,with the oxygen to carbon ratio of 0.17 and the hydrogen to carbon ratio of 0.91,indicating that the fuel characteristics of the hydrothermal carbon are close to those of subbituminous coal.
