Meta Analysis of Residues of Widely Used Pyrethroid Pesticides in Green Tea in China

Abstract
[Objective]Green tea is the largest type of tea in China,but it has been found that there are residues of pyrethroid pesticides in the circulation of tea.This study aimed to systematically evaluate the residues of pyrethroid pesticides in green tea in China,and to put forward correspon-ding countermeasures based on the current situation.[Method]After searching publications on pyre-throid pesticide residues in Chinese green tea from January 1,2015 to January 15,2025 in databases of PubMed,Web of Science,CNKI,Wanfang and VIP,10 eligible articles were collected after screening.Meta analysis was performed using Stata software,analyses of the pyrethroid pesticide detection rate were combined to conduct sensitivity analysis and subgroup analysis to explore the source of heterogeneity.Moreover,through comparing pesticide residue levels with the maximum residue limits(MRLs)specified in China's national standard GB 2763-2021,the compliance status of green tea in the market was assessed and a comparative analysis was conducted against interna-tional standards;the current status of pesticide residue detection methods was also analyzed and dis-cussed.[Result](1)The detection rates of pyrethroid pesticides in green tea in China were as fol-lows:bifenthrin 30%(95%Confidence interval=0.21-0.39),cyhalothrin 13%(95%CI=0.08-0.19),deltamethrin 10%(95%CI=0.06-0.13),cypermethrin 10%(95%CI=0.06-0.15),perme-thrin 6%(95%CI=0-0.20),deltamethrin 6%(95%CI=0-0.28),fenvalerate 3%(95%CI=0-0.09),fenvalerate 2%(95%CI=0-0.08).(2)For different regions,the detection rate of pyrethroid pesti-cides in green tea was higher in southern China and lower in southwest China.(3)None of the 8 de-tected pyrethroid residues exceeded the corresponding MRLs specified in GB 2763-2021.(4)Al-though fenvalerate had been banned,trace residues could still be detected.(5)There is a gap be-tween the MRLs of pyrethroid pesticides in China and the strict international standards,indicating a potential risk of suffering from international trade barriers.(6)There are shortcomings in pesticide residue detection methods that need to be optimized and improved.[Conclusion]The residues of py-rethroid pesticides in green tea in China's market generally meet the national standards,but as the banned chemicals found in the residues were not detected due to deficiency of detection method,hu-man body could be exposed to health risks in the long term.Differences in some MRLs pose a risk of international trade barriers.Therefore,it is necessary to balance the needs of domestic security and international trade demands,and build a full-chain risk management and control system for the industry through the internationalization of standards,green prevention and control,precise detec-tion and intelligent supervision.Meanwhile,investment in scientific research and public education should be strengthened to promote the industrial upgrading from just"compliance"to"high quality",to help Chinese tea break through international trade barriers on the basis of ensuring consumer's safety for impro-ving its global competitiveness.关键词
