Abstract

The International Maritime Organization(IMO)has tightened carbon emission reduction policies,leading the maritime industry transition toward low-carbon and zero-carbon fuels.Meanwhile,the European Union has enacted legislation to accelerate ship carbon reduction and multiple nations have introduced policies promoting the green transition of marine fuels.The adoption of alternative-fuel-powered vessels is growing rapidly and LNG-fueled ships account for the largest share.These combined drivers are expected to boost LNG demand in the maritime sector's future and conventional LNG will maintain a crucial role over the next 10-15 years.China has initiated low-carbon fuel bunkering services for international vessels.Its established trade patterns and industrial strengths LNG bunkering capabilities.The paper forecasts China's LNG bunkering demand for international vessels could reach 1.6-2.2 million tons by 2030,rise to 5.7-8.7 million tons by 2035,and surpass 10 million tons in the long term.To advance China's LNG bunkering industry for international vessels,recommendations include accelerating infrastructure development,building the LNG bunkering supply chain,bettering policy supportive system to boost global competitiveness,expanding international cooperation to develop LNG bunkering networks along major shipping routes,and strategically preparing layout for green liquid fuels through proactive engagement in global rule-making.
