Abstract
Papua New Guinea(PNG)possesses over 20 trillion cubic feet of proven natural gas reserves.The country has completed the PNG LNG project with an annual capacity of 8 million tons and is planning such additional projects as Papua LNG and KPHL FLNG,with total capacity expected to reach 15 million tons per year by 2030.All three major Chinese oil companies,CNPC,Sinopec,and CNOOC,have entered PNG market through various partnerships to participate in its oil and gas development.Chinese company's involvement in the PNG LNG project demonstrates significant financial,technical,and engineering capabilities while aligning with China's LNG import demands.While PNG maintains good relations with China,boasts substantial gas reserves,and offers government support for LNG projects,it also faces challenges including inadequate infrastructure,land tenure disputes,and geopolitical risks.Chinese-invested enterprises should explore and develop the best practices for their investing in the oil and gas sector including collaborating with international oil companies to share risks,leveraging China's expertise in modular oil facility construction,and cultivating positive corporate image.关键词
