Abstract

The United Kingdom,the United States,and Australia have issued accounting methodologies for greenhouse gas(GHG)emissions,while China has piloted provisional accounting frameworks in specific sectors.Integrating domestic and international accounting methods and research findings,this paper quantifies GHG emissions levels throughout production,liquefaction,transportation,processing,and consumption phases by taking a 260,000-tonne LNG shipment as a case study,analyzes the effects on per-unit carbon emission costs across the gas supply chain considering future prices in China's carbon emissions trading market,and proposes energy-saving and emission-reduction measures for upstream,midstream,and downstream enterprises in the LNG industry.The research results reveal that greenhouse gas emissions in China's imported LNG supply chain are distributed as 25.55%for upstream operations,2.81%for midstream,and 71.64%for downstream end-use utilizations,the projected comprehensive carbon emission cost for the entire supply chain is estimated to rise from 0.3075 yuan/m³ in 2030 to 8.078 yuan/m³ by 2060,and enterprises in industry chain would reduce carbon emissions to some extents by renewable energy adoption,LNG cold energy utilization,hydrogen blending in power generation,energy saving and optimization in operations,and assembling CCS devices.
