摘要

Abstract

The retinal microcirculation shares many similarities with cerebral small vessels.As a directly observable part of the central nervous system with clearly defined structural layers,the retina serves as an ideal model for studying the pathophysiology of central nervous system disorders.Neurodegenerative diseases are a group of chronic conditions characterized by neuronal degeneration or demyelination.Currently,diagnosis is primarily based on clinical symptoms and imaging findings;however,by the time a definitive diagnosis is made,irreversible neurological damage has often already occurred,severely affecting patient survival and quality of life.Optical coherence tomography(OCT)and optical coherence tomography angiography(OCTA)can provide detailed structural and vascular imaging of the retina,choroid,and optic nerve,enabling detection of subtle retinal changes and offering a window into central nervous system alterations.Understanding the OCT and OCTA characteristics of neurodegenerative diseases in recent years can provide a scientific basis for their early identification and intervention.
