Abstract
In the context of ongoing digitalization and declining fertility rates,this study empirically ana-lyzes the impact of digital literacy on the fertility intentions of women of childbearing age using data from the China General Social Survey(CGSS).The findings indicate that an increase in digital literacy signifi-cantly suppresses the fertility intentions of these women.As economic and social development inevitably drives a general enhancement in digital literacy,women of childbearing age face a structural decline in their fertility intentions.Through mediation effect analysis incorporating key factors influencing fertility in-tentions,it was found that work-family conflict effects,individualization tendencies,and recognition of emerging marriage and childbirth concepts are primary pathways through which digital literacy inhibits fer-tility intentions.The mediation effect analysis confirms the decisive influence of enhanced digital literacy on fertility willingness.Furthermore,intergenerational difference analysis reveals that compared to those born in the 1980s and 1970s,individuals born in the 1990s exhibit more unstable fertility intentions and are more significantly affected by improvements in digital literacy.Consequently,generational replace-ment will further exacerbate the decline in fertility willingness.This research provides a new perspective for understanding the relationship between advancements in a digital society and decreasing fertility inten-tions.关键词
