Abstract

Aphelinus varipes is the natural enemy of cotton aphids.In order to clarify the adaptability of A.varipes to different temperature conditions,the parasitism,adult lifespan,and eclosion of cotton aphid wasps were investigated under three temperature conditions:a temperature difference of 10 ℃(20-30 ℃),a tempera-ture difference of 5 ℃(22.5-27.5 ℃),and a temperature difference of 0 ℃(constant temperature of 25℃).The results showed that the lifetime parasitism and adult lifespan of cotton aphid wasps under variable tempera-ture conditions were higher than those under constant temperature conditions of 25℃.Among them,the lifetime parasitism(191.55 individuals)and adult lifespan(12.55 days)of A.varipes were the highest under variable temperature conditions of 22.5-27.5℃,and the differences between the index values under constant temperature conditions of 25 ℃ were significant.The daily parasitism of female bees was significantly affected by their age and decreases with increasing age.The temperature difference had a significant impact on the emergence rate of cotton aphid wasps,with the highest emergence rate(93.20%)observed under a temperature difference of 5 ℃(22.5-27.5℃),which was significantly higher than the other two temperature conditions.The temperature range of 22.5-27.5℃ is more suitable for the devel-opment of A.varipes.
