Abstract

Objective To investigate the clinical value of artificial intelligence(AI)and 3D Slicer visualization technology in the assisting diagnosis of intracranial aneurysms.Methods Totally 100 patients with intracranial aneurysms confirmed and treated by DSA at the Department of Neurosurgery,the Second Affiliated Hospital of Bengbu Medical College from January 2020 to September 2023 were retrospectively analyzed.Using DSA results as the gold standard,the diagnostic accuracy of AI-assisted diagnosis and post-processed computed tomography angiography(CTA)imaging data using 3D Slicer software was compared.The aneurysm neck and the maximum diameter were measured,and a consistency test was conducted.Results The diagnostic accuracies of AI and 3D Slicer for 100 cases of intracranial aneurysms were 92%and 90%,respectively,with a statistically significant difference(P=0.002).For aneurysm neck measurements<3 mm and 3-5 mm,the intraclass correlation coefficients(ICCs)for consistency between AI and DSA measurements were poor(ICC=0.019,0.184,respectively).In measuring the maximum diameter<3 mm and 3-5 mm,the consistency between AI and DSA measurements was poor(ICC=0.051,0.031,respectively).In contrast,3D Slicer showed relatively good consistency with DSA in measuring aneurysm necks<3 mm and 3-5 mm(ICC=0.537,0.602,respectively),and good consistency in measuring the largest diameter<3 mm and 3-5 mm(ICC=0.732,0.777,respectively).For aneurysm necks>5 mm,both AI and 3D Slicer showed high consistency,ranging from good to very good(ICC=0.956,0.741,respectively).When measuring the largest diameter>5 mm,the consistency between AI and DSA was good(ICC=0.767),and 3D Slicer exhibited extremely high consistency(ICC=0.985).Significant differences were observed in the measurements of aneurysm necks and maximum diameters by AI,DSA,and 3D Slicer(P<0.05).Conclusion AI and 3D Slicer both demonstrate high diagnostic rates in the auxiliary diagnosis of intracranial aneurysms and are capable of accurately measuring detailed morphological data related to the aneurysm neck and maximum diameter.Thus,further optimization of AI and 3D Slicer could promote their application in the intelligent diagnosis of intracranial aneurysms.
