Correlation between gray matter volume and homocysteine in patients with mild cognitive impairment
摘要
Abstract
Objective To investigate the relationship between gray matter volume and homocysteine(Hcy)levels in patients with mild cognitive impairment. Methods Twenty-two MCI patients who treated in the Gansu Provincial Hospital from March 2022 to March 2024 were selected as MCI group, and 24 healthy controls were selected as control group, and cranial MRI image data, clinical data, and cognitive-psychological scales from all subjects were collected. The differences in gray matter volume between the two groups were compared and the correlations with clinical data and cognitive-psychological scales were analyzed. Results Compared with healthy control group,MCI patients had lower MoCA score,MMSE score and HDL-C level(P<0.01),HAMD-24 score,Hcy and LDL-C levels significantly increased(P<0.01).Gray matter volume in the right midcingulate, left insula and occipital gyrus and bilateral fusiform reduced(FWE correction, the level of voxel,P<0.001;the level of mass,P<0.05).Body mass index(BMI)was positively correlated with left insula(r=0.520,P=0.013),right midcingulate(r=0.424,P=0.049)gray matter volume, and Hcy was negatively correlated with left fusiform(r=-0.567,P=0.006),right fusiform(r=-0.490,P=0.021)gray matter volume. Conclusion The reduced gray matter volume in the right midcingulate, left insula and occipital gyrus and bilateral fusiform may be important neuroimaging features of brain structural damage in MCI patients, and Hcy level was correlated with the bilateral fusiform gray matter volume.Hcy may play an important role in the process of brain damage in MCI patients.关键词
