老年患者MRI检查脑白质高信号与衰弱的相关性
Correlation of white matter hyperintensity examined by MRI and frailty in elderly patients

Abstract
Objective To investigate the association between MRI imaging characteristics and frailty status in patients with white matter hyperintensities(WMH).Methods A total of 350 WMH patients aged 60-85 years,hospitalized in the Department of Neurology,Anhui No.2 Provincial People's Hospital from June 2023 to February 2024 were selected.All the patients underwent cranial MRI examinations.General data(gender,age,education level,number of chronic diseases,number of medications,etc.)were collected,and frailty was assessed using the Fried frailty phenotype.The Fazekas grading was applied separately to evaluate periventricular white matter hyperintensities(PVH)and deep white matter hyperintensities(DWMH).Results Among the 350 WMH patients,99(28.29%)were non-frail,164(46.86%)were pre-frail,and 87(24.86%)were frail.Significant differences were observed among the three groups in Morse fall scale(MFS)scores,mini nutritional assessment short-form(MNA-SF)scores,age,number of chronic diseases,and number of medications(P<0.05).PVH scores also showed statistically significant differences among the three groups(P<0.05).Furthermore,PVH scores varied significantly across different levels of frailty(χ 2=218.869,P<0.001).Conclusion The prevalence of frailty is relatively high among elderly WMH patients and is associated with age,number of chronic diseases,number of medications,high fall risk,and nutritional status.Moreover,frailty is positively correlated with PVH,with higher PVH grades indicating more severe frailty.关键词
