Effect of wall constraint ratio on bubble motion characteristics under uniform vertical electric field

Abstract
To understand the influence of wall effect on the motion behavior of bubbles under electric field conditions,numerical simulations were used to investigate the effects of wall constraint ratio on the rising and breakup characteristics of bubbles under the conditions of a uniform vertical electric field.The phase field method was used to capture the shape changes of bubbles,and the effects of electric field strength and wall constraint ratio on the rising velocity,deformation and breaking time of bubbles were investigated.The results indicate that the larger the electric field strength and the wall constraint ratio,the more easily the bubbles breakup.Under the condition of electric Bond number Boe=1.0,when the wall constraint ratio rc<2,the wall force plays a major role in bubble breakup,and the bubble undergoes a necking breakup,producing one large and two small sub-bubbles.While when the wall constraint ratio rc≥3,the electric field force plays a major role in bubble breakup,and the bubble undergoes a center breakup,producing two sub-bubbles of equal sizes.The possibility of bubble breakup under different electric field strengths and wall constraint ratios was studied,and the critical electric field strength and wall constraint ratio that could cause bubbles breakup were obtained.关键词
