Methods for calculating centrifugal compressor's settle-out pressure and inlet pressure safety valve relieving flow rate

Abstract
The centrifugal compressor's settle-out pressure is currently not widely calculated in the domestic chemical engineering companies during the engineering design phase or technical revamping phase,if the mechanical design pressure of the inlet pipes is lower than the settle-out pressure,the compressor suction pipes may encounter rupture and other safety related issues.To get a quick calculation of the centrifugal compressor's settle-out pressure and suction pressure safety valve relieving flow rate during the engineering phase or technology revamping phase,two methods of calculation were provided based on the process gas with relative molecular mass changed or unchanged to calculate the centrifugal compressor's settle-out pressure conveniently with using the excel calculation tool.The results show that the settle-out pressures are the same with using the aforementioned two methods based on listing and summarizing the different pressure or temperature sections of the centrifugal compressor system.With the centrifugal compressor's settle-out pressure,the discharge pressure safety valve set pressure and the anti-surge valve flow coefficient,the inlet pressure safety valve relieving flow rate of the centrifugal compressor will be calculated accordingly.A more simplified calculating formula is given based on the isothermal compression process and the process gas relative molecular mass unchanged,which can be applied to the quick calculation of the centrifugal compressor's settle-out pressure and thus significantly reduce the amounts of parameters needed and time consumed in the engineering phase.Due to the lack of standardized calculation methods in domestic chemical engineering companies,the methods of calculating the centrifugal compressor's settle-out pressure can be regarded as engineering references which will make the process of compressor-related much safer than the uncalculated one.关键词
