摘要

Abstract

Chronic inflammatory diseases are increasingly prevalent in clinical practice,yet they present chal-lenges such as unclear pathogenesis and poor response to treatment,leading to persistent discomfort and func-tional impairment in patients.Recent advances in understanding these conditions have highlighted the poten-tial value of inflammatory biomarkers in disease management.Matrix metalloproteinase 9(MMP-9),a pro-teolytic enzyme extensively involved in extracellular matrix(ECM)degradation and tissue remodeling,plays a pivotal role in chronic inflammatory processes across multiple organ system by mediating key pathological events including inflammatory cell infiltration,matrix decomposition and pro-inflammatory mediator release.Investigating MMP-9 provides critical insights into disease mechanisms and reveals promising therapeutic tar-gets.This review synthesized current knowledge on MMP-9's multifaceted roles and underlying molecular mechanisms in systemic chronic inflammation,aiming to inform novel diagnostic approaches and targeted treatment strategies for inflammatory disorders.
