Sorghum Research in China-Organizational Structure,Inherent Constraints,and Policy Recommendations

Abstract
Sorghum research organization system which is primarily led by public research institutions and features a hierarchical collaboration between national and local levels,has contributed to the advancement of sorghum technology in China.However,challenges such as delayed corporate research development,insufficient market orientation in sorghum research projects,and inadequate coordination among research institutions persist within China's sorghum organization system.These issues have constrained the development of sorghum research in China,resulting in notable weaknesses in areas like variety selection,cultivation techniques,and processing technologies.To enhance the technological innovation capability of China's sorghum industry,it is imperative to reconstruct the research organization model,effectively integrate research capabilities through diversified collaboration,strategically plan sorghum research,reform the project acceptance mechanism,and gradually establish a new paradigm where both sorghum research institutions and enterprises contribute to the overall research effort.关键词
