Abstract

To optimize cassava stems soaking technology and pretreatment,this study evaluated the effects of 4 rooting powder concentrations(0,20.0,40.0,and 60.0 mg·L-1),soaking durations(30 and 60 min),and stem lengths(125.0 cm and 15.0 cm)on seedling growth in'South China No.10'cassava,with dry-planted stems used as controls.The results revealed the following:(1)All rooting powder concentrations significantly improved multiple growth parameters,including plant height,stem diameter,fibrous root(FR)number,storage root(SR)number,fresh weight of FR,and SR,and the stem+leaves(S&L)and root/top ratios,compared with those of the control,with 40.0 and 60.0 mg·L-1 showing optimal performance.(2)Both soaking durations increased growth metrics without significant differences between the 30 and 60 min treatments.(3)While both stem lengths improved growth,the 15.0 cm treatment outperformed the other treatments,but there were no significant differences between the 15.0 and 125.0 cm treatments.These findings demonstrate that rooting powder soaking promotes co-ordinated aerial and subterranean growth.For manual planting,we recommend treating 15.0 cm with 40.0~60.0 mg·L-1 solu-tion for 30~60 min;for mechanical planting,125.0 cm stems should be soaked before cutting.
