Effect of Lactobacillus Plantarum ATCC14917 Combined with Trehalose on the Formation of Atherosclerosis in APOE-/-Mice

摘要

Abstract

To explore the effects of Lactobacillus plantarum ATCC14917 and trehalose combined with Lactobacillus plantarum ATCC14917 on atherosclerosis in apolipoprotein E gene knockout(APOE-/-)mice,8-week-old male C57BL/6J wild-type mice and male APOE-/-mice were selected,with C57BL/6J as the blank control group(WT).And APOE-/-mice were randomly divided into the control group(Control),the model group(Vehicle),the Lactobacillus plantarum intervention group(Lp),the trehalose interven-tion group(Tre),and the Lactobacillus plantarum combined with trehalose intervention group(Lp+Tre).Mice in Tre,Lp,and Lp+Tre groups were orally administered treha-lose,Lactobacillus plantarum ATCC14917,and their combination,while mice in WT,Control,and Vehicle groups were orally administered PBS.After 12 weeks,serum TC,TG,HDL-C,and LDL-C were measured in mice.Liver HE staining and the gross oil red O staining of atherosclerotic plaque area aorta were measured.The results shows that compared with the Vehicle group mice,the Lp+Tre group mice have a decrease in body weight and a decrease in liver to body ratio.The serum levels of TC,TG,and LDL-C are significantly reduced.The liver HE staining of Lp+Tre group mice are similar to that of the Control group.Trehalose can promote the proliferation of Lactobacillus plantarum ATCC14917,and Lactobacillus plantarum ATCC14917 can alleviate atherosclerosis in mice.The combination may inhibit the progression of atherosclerosis in APOE-/-mice by reducing cholesterol levels.
