Abstract
The study aimed to evaluate the control effects of the botanical pesticide pyrethrins against aphids in sorghum.The toxicity was determined by dip method,and field efficacy trials were conducted in three sorghum field over 2 years.A safety evaluation on three sorghum varieties was carried out by pot method.The results showed that pyrethrin exhibited good toxicity against sorghum aphids,with an LC50 value of 6.4085 mg/kg.Field control effects at rates of 18,27 and 36 g/hm2 on sorghum aphids ranged from 65%to 85%at 1 day after treatment,and from 60%to 90%at 7 days.The effective period was about 7 days.Pyrethrin showed no significant difference in efficacy compared with the control treatment of matrine at rate of 9 g/hm2.The three sorghum varieties treated with the dosage of pyrethrin 144 g/hm2 experienced growth inhibition rates below 10%,which were significantly higher than those observed at 36 and 72 g/hm2.However,no adverse effects were observed,and normal growth was maintained across all the three varieties.In conclusion,pyrethrin demonstrated strong activity and effective field control against sorghum aphids,while being safe for sorghum crops.Therefore,it is suitable for widespread application in sorghum cultivation.关键词
