How Can the New Quality Productive Forces Empower High-quality Employment of Workers?

Abstract
The rapid development of New Quality Productive Forces(NQPF)has brought about profound changes in the labor market,emphasizing the need to explore its effects on high-quality employment.This study u-tilizes the entropy method to measure NQPF development at the city level and draws upon data from the China La-bor-force Dynamics Survey(CLDS)to examine the comprehensive effects,mechanisms,and segmented differences of NQPF on employment quality.The findings reveal that NQPF development significantly enhances employment quality,particularly in objective dimensions such as wage income,welfare protection,and job stability.Mechanism tests show that NQPF improves employment quality by reshaping job characteristics,promoting employment fair-ness,and enhancing skill-job matching.Heterogeneity analysis indicates that NQPF has a more significant impact on the employment quality of urban workers,women,and those employed in the manufacturing sector.Quantile re-gression demonstrates diverse effects across different employment quality quantiles.These findings provide empirical evidence supporting the acceleration of NQPF as a means to enhance high-quality employment and contribute to common prosperity. This study makes several contributions.First,it develops a city-level NQPF index and applies it to assess its impact on labor market outcomes,offering a unique perspective to the existing literature on the development of new types of productive forces.Second,it extends literature on the mechanisms by which technological innovation af-fects employment quality,demonstrating that reshaping job characteristics and improving employment fairness and skill matching are critical pathways for enhancing job quality.Finally,through heterogeneity analysis and quantile regression,this paper reveals how different groups experience the impacts of NQPF differently,contributing to a nu-anced understanding of how technological innovations shape the labor market. As China aims to realize common prosperity through inclusive growth,the role of NQPF in ensuring equitable job opportunities becomes more critical.The government's role in promoting these technological advancements must consider the potential uneven distribution of benefits,which can exacerbate inequalities if left unaddressed.In this context,this paper not only contributes to the theoretical understandings of NQPF's labor market effects but also of-fers valuable policy recommendations.Specifically,fostering an inclusive workforce capable of adapting to new technologies should be a priority for policymakers,ensuring that the labor force remains competitive and adequately supported by both education and training systems.Furthermore,as China continues to transition from a growth-driv-en to a quality-driven economic model,creating the right policy environment for NQPF to thrive will be essential for sustaining long-term labor market stability.This paper paves the way for future studies on technological innovation and labor market reform,ultimately shaping a more resilient and prosperous future for all workers in the global e-conomy.关键词
