Does the Nature of Digital Trade Enhance the Industrial Chain Resilience?

Abstract
With the deepening development of international trade,digital trade has become a new growth point for economic development,providing a key internal driver for improving the resilience and security of the industrial chain.This article,from the perspective of building a comprehensive pilot zone for cross-border e-commerce in China,explores the inherent connection and mechanism between digital trade and industrial chain resilience.It provides theoretical support and practical guidance for applying digital trade to enhance industrial chain resilience and promote the safe and stable development of the industrial chain. This article systematically reviews research on the factors related to the indirect empowerment of industrial chain resilience by digital trade and the impact of industrial chain resilience.It deeply explores the mechanism of how digital trade affects industrial chain resilience from the perspectives of industrial chain resistance,industrial chain recovery,and industrial chain stability.This article selects 299 cities in China from 2012 to 2022 as the re-search objects.Firstly,it uses cross-border e-commerce policies to measure the current digital trade development in China.Secondly,relevant control variables are selected as control parameters to construct DID and PSM-DID mod-els to examine the impact of digital trade on industrial chain resilience.In addition,it analyzes whether there are differences in the impact of digital trade on the industrial chain resilience across different resource endowments,ge-ographical locations,infrastructure,and set-up batches.Finally,the internal mechanism of the impact of digital trade on industrial chain resilience is further examined through the mediating effect model. The results indicate that the establishment of cross-border comprehensive pilot zone policies has significantly improved urban industrial chain resilience.After the parallel trend test,placebo test,exclusion of special samples,and exclusion of other policy interference,the conclusion remains robust.Heterogeneity analysis shows that the effect of digital trade on the industrial chain resilience varies depending on factors such as resource endowment,ge-ographical location,infrastructure,and setting batches.This promotion effect is more pronounced in the eastern re-gion,coastal cities,and areas with high-level traditional infrastructure.Mechanism analysis shows that digital trade has an impact on the industrial chain resilience from four aspects:resource allocation efficiency,knowledge absorp-tion capacity,industrial competitiveness,and urban innovation capability.This article proposes policy suggestions for using digital trade to improve the industrial chain resilience.The research results not only enrich the path to en-hance the industrial chain resilience from the perspective of digital trade but also provide policy insights for explo-ring the nature of digital trade and achieving security and stability of industrial chains.关键词
