Abstract

To explore the ecological water demand for fishes with drifting eggs,a method based on flood pulses and the concept of natural hydrological conditions is proposed.Based on the daily discharge records(1978-2010),of Panzhihua Hydrological Station,the natural hydrological regiem dataset is reconstruced for the Panzhihua Section of Jinsha River.The indicators of natural pulse processes from May to July are analyzed,and typical pulse processes are identified.Building upon these results,the same multiple amplification method is employed to derive the characteristic hydrographs delineating ecological water demand.The results show that the natural pulse in the Panzhihua Section from May to July is a single-peak upwelling process,with the upwelling durations concentrated in the early and late parts of each month(4 days,3 days and 3 days),accompanied by a downwelling process.The ecological water demand process line during the spawning period of fish with drifting eggs from May to July is a pulse process,consisting of an upwelling process controlled by the initial upwelling flow,upwelling duration,peak flow and peak shape,as well as a downwelling process controlled by the duration and magnitude of the downwelling.The results can provide necessary references for the conservation of fish with drifting eggs in the ecological dispatch of reservoirs.
