摘要

Abstract

The Yellow River is characterized by scarce water,abundant sediment,and an imbalanced water-sediment relationship.Increasing sediment deposition in its channels has weakened flood discharge and sediment transport capacities,adversely impacting flood control safety,sediment resource utilization,ecological conservation,and the sustainable health of the river.To enhance channel regulation,improve flood and sediment transport capacities,stabilize river morphology,and ensure flood safety,it is imperative to establish a long-term mechanism for dredging and sediment resource utilization.This will enable systematic and sustainable exploitation of sediment resources in the Yellow River Basin.The Xiaobeiganliu reach has been selected as a pilot area for dredging and desilting.Lessons learned from this pilot project will provide technical foundations for large-scale,systematic dredging initiatives in the future.
