Response of Yield and Quality of Salt-tolerant Rice Varieties in Liaoning Coastal Rice Region under Dif-ferent Gradient Salt Stress

Abstract
To enhance the utilization of saline-alkali land and improve the yield and quality of rice,this study established four simu-lated salinity environments:a control using conventional soil from the coastal area of Liaoning province(with a salt concentration of 0.15%,labeled as the salt 1 treatment and a salt content of 1.571 g·kg-1),and three gradient treatments with salt concentrations of 0.25%(salt 2,2.561 g·kg-1),0.35%(salt 3,3.523 g·kg-1),and 0.45%(salt 4,4.581 g·kg-1).The response of yield and quality of five salt-tolerant rice varieties to salt stress was investigated.The results showed that compared with the control group(soil salt con-tent of 0.15%),all five varieties exhibited varying degrees of yield reduction when the soil salt content ranged between 0.25%and 0.35%.However,their rice processing quality and taste value were significantly improved.Under 0.45%soil salinity,rice production suffered severe yield reduction and deteriorated eating quality,along with decreased chalkiness,while other appearance quality traits remained unaffected.The cooking quality of rice initially declined,but subsequently improved with increasing soil salinity levels.Re-garding grain quality,Yanjing 935 demonstrated relatively strong salt tolerance.In terms of yield maintenance,Yanjing 431 and Yan-feng 47 exhibited better salt tolerance performance.In conclusion,cultivating salt-tolerant rice varieties in saline-alkali soils demon-strates advantages in grain quality,but still faces challenges in yield improvement.Therefore,future efforts should focus on breeding salt-tolerant varieties with both high quality and yield potential,and developing high-yield cultivation techniques optimized for quali-ty production.Rational utilization of moderately and mildly saline-alkali lands should be implemented to achieve high quality and high yield rice production.关键词
